Online Careers for Foreign Language Speakers

It comes as no surprise that remote ¨Fill in the Blank¨ has become the new way of life for people all over the world throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. Many businesses have been forced into making rapid adjustments to their companies so as to continue with as much normality as can be provided.
Although, not everything is “Doom and Gloom” as I for one can say that I’ve enjoyed the luxury of working from home. Those irritating co-workers whose interests include making your life hell are a lot more tolerable when you don’t need to interact face-to-face or even better when they don’t exist at all.
However, not every company has been able to rise to this remote way of life and it has left many without work and income. So here are a few ways to make some money as a “Foreign Language Speaker” online. P.s. Even if you just speak English, although it may not be a foreign language for you, it is for someone.
This option is accessible to everyone whether you think you have the ability to teach or not. The pandemic kindled a love for languages that I never knew existed within myself. I wasn’t a straight A student and let's just say I always prefered Science and Maths to anything language related but with the new found extra time my dear friend covid provided, I found myself starting to learn Spanish and with that uncovering something which I must admit was quite obvious and I’m a little disappointed I didn’t think about it earlier.
Eventually, people just need someone nice to talk the language to and have a connection so that they can develop their speaking skills and enforce the grammar they have been learning. There are so many websites that provide you with everything you need to start giving classes such as classgap, Italki, preply just to name a few. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to start working online.
Customers Service Roles
As many businesses have moved to remote work this provides a unique period where traditional customer service positions that once required you to be at the office can now be achieved from the comfort of your home. IT Tech Support within banks and technology organizations, call centre work in phone companies like Optus and Telstra, positions managing Social Media accounts for companies or individuals and of course Interpreters and translators have all come together to offer countless opportunities for remote work.
Interpreters have the responsibility to bridge communication gaps between two or more groups who do not speak the same language. Although some people like to have an in person interpreter, Interpretations over the phone or via applications such as Zoom, Skype or Google Hangouts are becoming increasingly popular and in turn are pushing the industry into the online world.
If the idea of interacting with people directly doesn’t sound like your idea of a good time then translations are a fantastic alternative. Translators convert documents from one language to another and depending on various factors like technicality, number of words and languages needed etc for the documents you can make a decent amount in the process.
At Idiomatic Translations Dubai we are always looking for talented Interpreters and Translators to continue providing the High-Quality of service that our clients have come to expect. Feel free to send us your CV / Resume. In this day and age it has become difficult to find meaningful work, however, there are increasingly more opportunities to get out of the office and to start earning from the comfort of your own home. It just takes making the first steps.
Best of Luck!
